Booking tickets:
Check out the booking page on their website here. You can just buy a day entry ticket, which is what the majority of us will be doing, or you might wish to spend more money on a season ticket if you intend to return, or an experience. Experiences aren’t able to be booked online and you would need to email in advance to arrange this with Tropiquaria. They take about an hour, so you would be able to join back up with the group if you wished for the rest of your time at the zoo.
Proposed Minibus arrangements:
We will be picking people up from the upstairs of the carpark at Tesco Extra (///treat.lucky.volunteered) at 08:30, aiming to arrive at Tropiquaria for opening at 10:30.
We will leave just after closing at 16:00 and expect to be back by about 17:30 – dropping of at the same place.
Minibus seats must be booked in advance via our Whatsapp group. There is no cost for this, as our charity will be paying for it.
Other travel options:
You’re welcome to find your own way to Tropiquaria and still hang round with us for the day. This might be more suited for people travelling with babies and young children as we are unsure of any isofix points etc on the shared transport, and for those who might need to break up the journey into shorter stints.
On the day:
As always, our events are flexible where possible to meet different people’s needs. If you want to share the transport and come on the minibus, but would prefer to go around the zoo at your own pace or stay in a certain area, that’s fine. If you want to avoid a certain part of the zoo, that’s cool too. If you want to hang around with the group some of time, or all of the time, it’s all good. All we ask is that everyone stays a member of the Whatsapp group so that we can communicate as needed.
We intend to move around the park as a group that follows the proposed free talks throughout the day, which is advertised as follows:
11:30 – Glorious Gibbons – Enclosure 23
12:00 – Time to Tapir – Enclosure 22
12:30 – Meerkat Munchtime – Enclosure 9
1:30 – You Really Otter See This – Enclosure 16
2:00 – Animal Encounters – Reptile Hall
2:30 – Lemurs Lunching – Enclosure 19
3:00 – Cat Chat – Serval & Bobcat – Starts at Enclosure 24
3:30 – Night Critters – Nocturnal House
This is subject to change and we will check upon arrival the final arrangements for the day.
Food and Drink:
There is an on site cafe called Blackbeards, which according to their website offers “…hot and cold snacks and meals. Hot and cold drinks, cakes, sweets, biscuits and ice cream are all available.” However, you are welcome to bring your own food and drink. As we will be following the talk schedule, we aim to stop for lunch between Meerkat Munchtime and You Really Otter See this.
