We were suprised in the best way when local podcaster Steve Calis turned up to give us a Pride of Yeovil Award for our work in the local community. We’re always pleased to see new faces at the monthly LGBT+ social we host for people in Yeovil, but this was something we never expected!

The Pride Of Yeovil Awards are described as a way to “recognise local people for doing great things, for being brave, for inspiring those around them with their actions.” We’re not sure who nominated Yeovil Diversity Project but we are humbled to have been put forward for this.

On the Calis Media Facebook page, owner and award organiser Steve wrote:

I recently had the pleasure of meeting the team at Yeovil Diversity Project and thank them for the wonderful work they do locally to create a safe, warm and fun environment for everybody in the LGBTQ+ community and for the work they do in making Yeovil a better place for people of all races, backgrounds and abilities.

This wonderfully enthusiastic and inclusive group have made a real difference in the lives of people who have previously felt isolated, shunned or like they don’t belong and are a credit to our town.

So thank you, YDP, on behalf of the people of Yeovil!
